Test on the documents of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the plan to build a cement factory of PT Semen Gresik (Persero) in Rembang Regency of Central Java is in progress. If the test runs successfully, the corporation is ready to disburse the budget of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Rembang.
It is stated by Division Head of Corporate Social and Environmental Development (PSLK) of Semen Gresik, FAF Adisamsul to suaramerdeka.com, Thursday (12/22/2011). "The CSR budget should be disbursed in stages. It has become the corporate policy," said FAF.
He further states, if the test on the document of Environmental Impact Assessment for the construction of a new Semen Gresik-owned cement plant located in Rembang runs well, in 2012 the corporation is planning to disburse Rp3 billion for its CSR budget. "We're trying to allocate up to Rp5 billion if our environmental impact assessment is alright," he adds.
FAF also states, the management of the company just cannot not disburse the CSR budget in one area that has not been any activity related to corporate actions. "In Central Java, we have been disbursing our CSR budget in Pati. In Yogyakarta, we have also released our CSR fund for the development of small-medium scale enterprises," he says.
Semen Gresik Corporate Secretary, Sunardi Prionomurti states, CSR budget in 2011 reached Rp139.8 billion. The CSR budget was allocated for environmental development program of Rp72.664 billion and partnership programs with small medium scale enterprises amounting to Rp67.214 billion.
The implementation of environmental development programs have always been based on the principle of proximity of the residential location of the recipients with the environment where the cement making plants operate. The closer the residential areas to the cement factories, the social environments enter the first ring category (I) which obtains the high priority to get environmental development fund. "In principle, we have always wished to provide benefits to the communities around our factories when we are present in one area," says Sunardi.
According to the plan, the new cement making plant owned by Semen Gresik will be built in Pasucen village of Gunem sub-district - Rembang. This cement plant requires an area of 900 hectares in the sub-districts of Gunem and Bulu.
The area is required for the procurement of raw materials of limestone (520 hectares), clay (240 hectares), plant (105 hectares), mining road (15 hectares), and production road (20 hectares). The land for the factory and procurement of raw materials will be focused in the villages of Pasucen, Tegaldowo, Kajar, Timbrangan, and Suntri in the sub-district of Gunem.
