Today, PT Semen Gresik (Persero) Tbk. IS organizing free medical treatment for Kasiman villagers of Kerek Sub-district, Tuban. The social service is the realization of the committed of PT Semen Gresik in its social responsibility through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
President Director of Semen Gresik Dwi Soetjipto says the harmonious relationship with the surrounding community will certainly drive the company's overall corporate performance, and it is proved this year; the achievement of the company's operating performance continues to improve, including financial performance and social performance as well as environmental performance. So, it has established the company's position in its stakeholders, especially the shareowners, employees and surrounding societies.
Semen Gresik regularly organizes free medical treatment in 26 villages around the plants located in Tuban and 3 mosques with the frequency 3 times a year on average in each village. The 26 villages include Sumberarum, Karanglo, Mliwang, Gaji, Margorejo, Kasiman, Socorejo, Jarorejo, Kedungrejo, Sembungrejo, Pongpongan, Temandang, Telogowaru, Tobo, Bogorejo, Sugihan, Tuwiri Wetan, Tuwiri Kulon, Kapu, Tahulu, Tegalrejo, Sumurgung, Karangasem, Senori, Temaji and Glondonggede. Andt the three mosques are Darussalam , Al Falah and Baiturrahman Mosques located in Jenu Sub-district. They are all located in 5 sub-districts including Kerek, Merakurak, Jenu, Tambakboyo and Tuban City.
Free medical treatment held by Semen Gresik in Tuban has been running since 1991 until now. In 2011, patients who came to get the free medical services reached 8,500 people with total cost reaching Rp300 million. The patients were mostly old-aged with the percentage of up to 50%, adult patients 25%, teenage patients 10% and under-aged patients 15%. They are divided into 75% women and 25% men.
Most of the medical complaints of the patients are fatigue and frequent dizziness for adult and elderly age. And the majority of children complained about malnourish as a result of decreased appetite and careless consumption of snacks and economic conditions. So, they needed more in-take of vitamins. The cases of flu (cough, runny nose) were rarely encountered. Even, if they were discovered, only 1 to 4 people suffer from this problem in each village. Diseases of itches in the skin are also frequently experienced by patients due to insect bites, especially during the harvest time.
In free medical treatment activity, Semen Gresik cooperation with Semen Gresik Hospital has always been assisted by medical personnel from the local health centers.
