The award is again given to the management of PT Semen Gresik (Persero) Tbk. The Gresik-based cement producing company succeeds to win ISRA Award (Indonesia Sustainability Reporting Award) of 2011. The award is given at a ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Jakarta, Wednesday night (12/21/2011).
The one who delivers the award is the Board Chairman of NCSR, Sarwono Kusumatmadja, Former Minister of Living Environment in the presidential era of Suharto and KH Abdurrahman Wahid. Semen Gresik is successfully selected as the runner-up of the award for the category of industrial companies.
"This award is given to companies that have social, environmental, and economic activities designed and programmed to provide benefits to the communities around and outside their factories. The continuation of all these activities must be kept from time to time," says Sarwono.
He argues, with well-programmed activities, the improvement programs for the communities surrounding and outside the plants can be perceived directly in the areas where the plants operate.
Meanwhile, Head of Community Development of Semen Gresik, Eko Honeng S, says the award shall give spirit to the corporation to further improve its performance in the future. The existence of Semen Gresik is not only felt by shareholders and employees, but also society as a whole.
"We express our many thanks for this award. Pray for us to work better in the years ahead," says Eko Honeng after receiving the award in Jakarta.
