By carrying the theme of Semen Gresik’s 51st anniversary, which is tiada henti membangun negeri, in the middle of the program of energy saving and capacity development, PT. Semen Gresik held Pekan Olahraga (POR). This event was officially inaugurated by the President Director of PT. Semen Gresik, Dwi Soetjipto, on July 8, 2008 in the Semen Gresik’s field, Bogorejo, Tuban.
Having been officially opened, the Pekan Olahraga (POR) event series were directly started, considering the experience of previous years, the events which are well-known as ”Pesta Rakyat Ulang Tahun Semen Gresik” was carried out more than one month in festive.
The President Director, Dwi Soetjipto, said that, the success of Pekan Olahraga (POR) and several social activities, arts, entertainments that brought spirit of togetherness was the reflection of how employees should give contribution to the company and have responsibilities to stakeholders.
”Every activity in Semen Gresik’s anniversary is not only enjoyed by the employees’ family but also has been waited by community. It shows that Semen Gresik has united with surrounding community lives,” he explained.
Implementation of Pekan Olahraga (POR) or other active participation forms carried out by Semen Gresik is a social responsibility form. For Semen Gresik has realized that implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) action is proved to bring benefit for many aspects, at least for social and economic aspects and other multi-aspects as well.
Community development pattern which is carried out aims at receiving social capital and strengthening local economic for a sustainable company’s business.
”The company must succeed in managing out the dynamics of the available interests in its territory,” he said.
Pekan Olahraga (POR) was held with participation of 14 sport fields or matches, 15 races and 12 social activities and entertainments that carried out together in Gresik and Tuban which included either light or “hard” kind of sport.
It was expected that above-performing athletes will arise, as ever performed by several Semen Gresik’s athletes that had already made achievement in domestic and international events (badminton, wall climbing, football, and match-boxing). Several activities involved Semen Gresik’s employees and surrounding community as well as any sport clubs. At present, Semen Gresik’s anniversary was entertained by local (regional art) and national artists as well.
At the peak of Semen Gresik’s anniversary which will be held on August 7, 2008, at Wisma A. Yani, Gresik, the Company will grant the loyalty reward to 230 employees who have length of service for 30 years, 25 years, 20 years and 10 years.
